History of Chandramauleshwar Mahadev: -

The name of this unique and very special temple located at Dholka is Chandramauleshwar Mahadev. Apart from this, this temple is also known as Nagnath Mahadev (Parpotiya Mahadev) as well as Chandreshwar Mahadev. The temple is believed to have been built about 500 years ago. This temple was built by the then king Sayajirao Gaekwad of Vadodara ( Baroda ).

Lord Swaminarayan himself came here and worshiped Lord Chandramouleshwar and described the glory of Shiva worship to the satsangis of his sect and honored the priest Shri.

Reason behind naming the temple: -

Mahadev ji holds the moon emanating from the ocean churning on his head, hence he is called Chandramauleshwar. The shivling here is also seen on the art of moon in the middel hivling. This chandradarshan continues to happen less and more along with the art of the moon. Due to the effect on the shivling of such moon ( chandradarshan ) , this lngam is called Chandramauleshwar. Thee is no such shivling anywhere else in the world.

Special Talks About Temple: -

This temple is more special and important here, which makes the shivling in the temple .Because this shivling is spontaneous and i comes out from ground. This shivling is belived to be from the pandav period. Another feature of this shivling is that shivling like it is not found anywhere else in the world. The shivling is made of crystal and its shape like water bubble ( parpota ) ,hence this temple is also known as PARPOTIYA MAHADEV. Shivling of natural crystal is not found anywhere else in the world as millions of yrs pass in the formation of natural crystal ( rhinestone ) ,but by the grace of lord shiva ,this type of natural crystal lingam is found only here in the whole world. In other features shivling is different from other shivling in terms of size as well as number. Other temples have only one Shivalinga while several Shivalingas shaped like water bubbles of crystalline form a main Shivalinga here.  It is very difficult to count the number of small Shivalingas of the size of this water bubble as the calculation is never uniform.  After the first count, if this count is 12, then when we count again, this count is not 12, so it is impossible to count its number.  Also, in the middle of this Shivalinga, by the grace of Lord Shiva, there is a chandra darshan of the moon and the effect of this Chandradarshan varies continuously.  This Chandradarshan changes at least twice a day.  This Chandradarshan disappears during Amavas as well as Shravan month and the white part of Chandradarshan becomes black there, we can easily see the jata of lord shiva and  ॐ  in chandradarshan on Shivling during Poonam's time as well as the time of full  chandradarshan.  Jai Chandramauleshwar. Har Har Mahadev. Jai Bhole.
